Halloween gives us the opportunity to add a huge dose of fun to math lessons. There are lots of simple Halloween math games and activities that you can create with a Halloween theme and I also have loads of printable Halloween math games and activities.
BOO
The games above are really simple games that you can create using popsicle sticks and cups. These games help students review their addition facts or multiplication facts or other facts if you prefer. You might already be familiar with the game Kaboom. Well Boo is just a Halloweenified version. Write your facts on sticks and write Boo on several sticks also.
To Play:
- The players put the sticks in the cup and take turns to draw out a stick and answer the fact.
- They keep the stick if they are correct and return the stick if they aren’t.
- When a player draws out a Boo stick, they have to place all of their sticks back in the cup.
- Play continues for a specified time and the winner is the player with the most sticks when time is up.
So simple but also so much fun!
Tic Tac Toe
Here is another simple game that you can use to review facts. All you need are some plastic spiders or you can use 2 different types of Halloween themed erasers. Write the facts on a Tic Tac Toe grid and you are set to go. The players simply answer a fact before they can put one of their spiders or erasers on the board. The winner is the first one to create a line of 3 just like in the regular game of Tic Tac Toe.
